It had been a huge relief finishing and shipping Serial #1 after five months of slog, doubt and frustration. But when Serial #2 was ready to ship just a couple of weeks later, that sense of relief now had added to it the beginning of a sense of confidence, which I think shows here.  Hey, we can do this!

When Serial #1 had been finished, the guys refused to put the black Velcro around the frame for attaching fabric backs, saying it wrecked the cool black carbon fiber aesthetic they had sweated months to achieve. I knew from the Chrysalis guitar that being able to put quick-change fabric backs on the guitar was a neat trick and a definite plus, but they wouldn’t have it, and #1 shipped bare naked. However, with Serial #2, the customer explicitly requested the fabric back option, so there was no choice in the matter.  Just about anything looks good behind gold grills, and especially anything blue. After playing around with it, the guys found they liked the fabric option after all. If you get tired of one look, changing the fabric back is an easy make-over, and the guitar looks totally different. And because a fabric back is not much more than a guitar-shaped handkerchief with a strip of Velcro around the edge, you can fit several in your pocket. After #2, every instrument shipped with pretty underwear enabled.
